Therapy Services

How does it work?

Carly welcomes clients of all of ages, from a diverse range of social, cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Carly works both long and short-term, and while specialising in Psychodynamic therapy, she infuses a multitude of modalities into her work, to tailor a unique approach for each individual and their needs. If you are considering therapy, the first step is to arrange an initial assessment, which will last for up to one hour. During this time you will be given an opportunity to talk about what brings you to therapy and then, together with Carly, you will explore what options are available and put together a plan of support.

If you decide to embark on the journey of therapy, sessions will generally take place on a weekly basis, each lasting 50 minutes and scheduled in advance to take place at the same time each week. Carly is happy to take a flexible approach, however, and you may agree to start with twice-weekly, double-length weekly sessions, or fortnightly sessions. This will all be discussed in the initial assessment and can be adapted throughout the process.

Both the assessment and sessions can take place either face to face or remotely, via video.

Please keep an eye out here for any upcoming sessions!

What does this mean?

Carly is predominantly trained in Contemporary Psychodynamic Therapy. Psychodynamic therapy involves developing a deeper understanding of one’s thoughts, feelings, responses and processes in life. This approach focuses on the relationship between conscious and unconscious motivation, and considers how past experiences can influence and shape current behaviours. The purpose of this focus is to identify patterns in thoughts, beliefs and emotions, resulting in enhanced self – awareness and the ability to manage complex emotions and address unhelpful, negative thought processes.
